Providing Free Swimming Lessons to 130 Underprivileged Children

A total of 130 children from 4 districts (Hai Bà Trưng, Hoàn Kiếm, Tây Hồ, Đống Đa) have been divided into 4 groups to participate in 12 swimming and water safety lessons. The goal is to complete the course with 100% of the children acquiring knowledge and skills in water safety, and 80-90% of them becoming proficient swimmers.

On July 18, at the Tăng Bạt Hổ swimming pool area, Hanoi Youth Union, in collaboration with Bằng Linh Sports and Entertainment Joint Stock Company, launched a free swimming and water safety class for underprivileged children in 2023 in the city.

Speaking at the event, Tran Phúc Lộc, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Youth Union and Vice Director of Hanoi Youth Palace, stated that this activity aims to continue implementing the government’s and Hanoi city’s directives regarding water safety for children and swimming programs for young people in Hanoi.

Hanoi Youth Palace and collaborating units will manage, guide, and teach swimming and water safety to ensure the safety, quality, and effectiveness of the program. The goal is for 100% of the children to acquire knowledge and skills in water safety, and 80-90% of them to become proficient swimmers by the end of the course.

Since 2012, the free swimming and water safety class for underprivileged children in Hanoi has been an annual activity organized by Hanoi Youth Palace. Over the past 11 years, it has been made possible through the contributions of Bằng Linh Sports and Entertainment Joint Stock Company, Hanoi Youth Union, and the Youth Union of districts and counties in the capital.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, 130 children from the 4 districts: Hai Bà Trưng, Hoàn Kiếm, Tây Hồ, Đống Đa, were divided into 4 groups and enthusiastically participated in 12 swimming lessons. They also learned various water safety skills, improving their health and fitness.

The closing ceremony for the free swimming and water safety class for underprivileged children in 2023 will be held on July 31, 2023. The organizing committee will issue certificates to eligible students.
