Phap Thien Temple, HCMC: Distributing Free Medicines and Gifts to the Visually Impaired
On October 29th, Venerable nun Diệu Thảo, the abbess of Phap Thien Pagoda (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City), collaborated with the District 8 Women’s Union, the Red Cross Society of District 8, and the local authorities of Ward 15 to organize the program “”Female Monks Engage in Charity Work”” by providing medical examinations, medication, and gifts to the Blind Association of District 8 and Ward 15.
It is known that doctors from the “”For Community Health”” Club conducted free medical examinations, provided free medicine, offered consultations, and answered questions about illnesses for over 70 visually impaired individuals and elderly people living alone.
On this occasion, Phap Thien Pagoda also donated 50 gifts, each worth 300,000 Vietnamese dong, including instant noodles, cooking oil, sugar, cakes, envelopes with cash, and more than 500 meals to the Blind Association of District 8 and individuals facing difficulties in the local area.
The total cost of the program was 40 million Vietnamese dong, supported by Phap Thien Pagoda, Buddhists, and compassionate individuals.
