Community Health Boost: GIAC NGỘ TEMPLE’s Blood Donation Drive

image 260

On August 5th, 437 individuals gathered at Giac Ngoc Temple (District 10) to support a humanitarian blood donation program with the message “”””Give a drop of blood, leave a lifetime behind.””””

This humanitarian blood donation program is organized in collaboration between the Giac Ngoc Temple and Cho Ray Hospital. Its aim is to encourage Buddhist monks, disciples, and the community to actively participate in blood donation, contributing to ensuring a safe blood supply for emergency and medical treatment in Ho Chi Minh City in 2023.

During the blood donation event, all volunteers underwent screening, blood tests, blood pressure checks, and health assessments before donating blood. At the end of the event, the organizers collected a total of 368 units of blood, contributing to the blood supply for emergency and treatment at Cho Ray Hospital.

Sharing a drop of red blood in exchange for a precious chance at life for those struggling on hospital beds not only demonstrates a sense of responsibility towards the community but also embodies a noble act filled with love, compassion, and shared support among people. In this humanitarian spirit, Giac Ngoc Temple actively participates in and mobilizes Buddhist monks and disciples to engage in the humanitarian blood donation program.

From mid-2022 to the present, to facilitate the participation of volunteers in blood donation, the humanitarian blood donation program has been organized twice a month, totaling 24 sessions per year.

Up to this point, the humanitarian blood donation program led by Giac Ngoc Temple has recorded over 26,000 units of blood donated, with more than 33,000 monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers participating. Through 77 organized sessions, Giac Ngoc Temple has surpassed the goal of donating 20,000 units of blood after nearly 10 years of implementing the program.

With the message “”””One drop of blood given, one life saved,”””” Giac Ngoc Temple continues to be the meeting place for compassionate hearts. It is where monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers come together to share love with the community, while spreading the compassionate and charitable spirit of Buddhism, bringing joy and relief.

Giac Ngoc Temple sincerely calls on those who have participated in humanitarian blood donation to continue donating blood regularly when eligible. This ensures a high-quality and safe blood supply for patients. Additional blood supply to the City Blood Bank means more opportunities to save the lives of patients in need of blood to sustain their lives.
