A Unified Effort: Soldiers and Monks Enhancing Environmental Protection
Joint Environmental Efforts by the Military and Buddhist Community in Ba Ria – Vung Tau
On June 15th, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Military Command, in collaboration with the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Vietnam Buddhist Church Administration, initiated the 2023 first phase of the model “Armed Forces of the Province Working Together with Religions to Plant Forests, Protect the Environment, and Clean Beaches.”
At the Minh Dam Regiment, over 100 officers, soldiers, monks, Buddhists, and youth union members from Ba Ria – Vung Tau province planted 1,100 Sao, Go Do, and Giang Huong trees.
In Vung Tau city, dozens of officers, soldiers, monks, Buddhists, and young members collected trash along the beach at Bai Dau, Ward 5.
Following the launch ceremony, the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Military Command instructed district, town, and city Military Commands to continue collaborating with the local Vietnam Buddhist Church Administration to implement the model “Armed Forces of the Province Working Together with Religions to Plant Forests, Protect the Environment, and Clean Beaches.”
Ven. Thich Nhuan Nghia, Deputy Head of the Standing Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Church in Ba Ria -Vung Tau, commented that the collaboration between the Military Command and the Buddhist Church in the province not only strengthens the bond between the military and civilians but also benefits the local community in organizing propaganda activities, mobilization, social charity, social security development, and environmental protection.
